A screwdriver is a tool used to drive or remove screws. Screwdrivers are usually composed of a handle, shaft, and unique tip. The handle is hexagonal for improved grip and are typically made of wood, plastic or metal. Common screwdrivers are only fit for one type of screw. There are interchangeable screwdrivers with different size tips, although they aren’t used very often.

There is a wide variety of tips for screwdrivers, such as Slot, Robertson, Phillips®, or Clutch. Of course, the most well known are Phillips®, Slot, and Robertson. The one we use the most is Phillips® and Slot.

Phillips® are designated a size code 0-4 in increasing tip size. Similar to Phillips®. Frearson has the same design except the tip of the angle is slightly larger. But for the most part, both screwdrivers can be used with any screw that has those 2 designs.

Slot screwdrivers are often called “flathead” screwdrivers, for their blade like tip. These types of screws are usually only used in wood.
