A collet is a device used to strongly clamp a piece of material or machine tool when tightened so it doesn’t shift while being worked on, similar to that of a chuck. It holds any material securely by forming a collar around the piece. This can then be inserted into the chuck of the machine, such as the Manual Lathe.
